Element Details: File+Column
 Back

Available in: Logi Info Source code name: FileColumnIntroduced in: v9.1.47

FileColumn copies a column value from a DataLayer into a file, one for each row. The value can be text or binary.

FileColumn is especially useful for getting and displaying images retrieved from database queries.

Set DataColumn to the name of the source text or binary column. As the FileColumn element creates its files, the data gets removed from the DataLayer.

Set the DataType to Binary or Text. Binary values should be Base64-encoded in the DataLayer, which is the standard behaviour

With the FileColumn element, be careful to set the Filename attribute so that each file gets a unique name. Use @Function.GUID~ or an ID value from data row, like @Data.ID~. Get the physical filename and pathname by creating new columns with the SavedFilePathColumnID and SavedFilenameColumnID attributes.

Example:
Filename="@Function.AppPhysicalPath~\rdDownload\@Function.GUID~.gif"
